Christian City celebrates forty-five years of ministry to children and seniors on February 14th. Christian City opened the first children’s cottage to eight little boys affected by situations of abuse and abandonment on Valentine’s Day, 1965. Since then, Christian City and the Children’s Village have been "home" to over 1,000 children and thousands of retiring seniors and the elderly through their Life Lease Homes, HUD housing apartments, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, an assisted living facility, and the first ever free standing Alzheimer’s Care Center in Georgia.

The children who live in the cottages at the Children’s Village are products of an unstable environment. These children had their childhood taken from them by situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. All these kids should have to worry about is what they want to be when they grow up, but the children who come to us have had to worry violence, where their next meal was coming from, and where they were going to sleep. The Children’s Village provides a safe haven for these children so that their only worry is whether they want to be a teacher, veterinarian, or an astronaut.Please consider helping ensure these kids have a childhood by donating to the Children’s Village at Christian City. The children who live in the cottages at the Children’s Village have been subject to horrible situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. With the help of loving house parents, these children are overcoming their pasts to become leaders in the world. Many of the children are on the honor roll, in honor societies, in after school activities, and are leaders in their organizations. These kids have overcome a horrible past to find a bright future ahead of them. Please consider investing in what matters…our children. The children who live in the cottages at the children’s village are all victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or other unfortunate circumstances. When these children come to Christian City, their spirits are crushed, they are angry and defensive, and they do not trust the adults in their lives. Our house parents work with these children and love them unconditionally so that they understand that this relationship is different from relationships they had in the past. The relationship of a house parent with a child is full of love and respect; however, it does take some time for the child to fully be able to love in return. Our house parents have compassion for these children and love them as their own. The Children’s Village is creating a childhood for these children, which was taken away from them at such an early age. Dear Friend,This phrase, “...there was no room for them”, will be repeated every time the Christmas Story is told. It’s just a phrase, but children face this situation every day. When?
It happens every time a “mother” abandons an unwanted child. It happens when babies are dumped in filthy public bathrooms or left in a cheap hotel by a “parent” with no intention of returning. It happens when a “mother” lies unconscious from alcohol or drug abuse and the authorities have come to take the innocent children away.
These are real stories about real children who, by God’s grace, have found their way to the Children’s Village which, for 46 years, has made room for children with no where else to turn. The Children’s Village is not just an “inn”, a place for a night’s shelter from the cold. It is a home, with house parents, and social workers, and helpers of all kind, dedicated to every physical, emotional and spiritual need these poor children have.
All this is made possible by caring people who provide the financial resources required to meet this tremendous need. Thankfully, their generosity will keep The Children’s Village from hanging out a sign saying, “There is no room for you”.

The children who live at The Children’s Village are here due to abuse, abandonment, or some other unfortunate circumstances. Many children when they arrive are guarded but after unconditional love from their house parents the children really start to feel loved and at home. All of our children are so thankful to live in an atmosphere where they have a safe place to sleep, a place to grow, and a place where they simply feel loved. Everyone needs love…and everyone needs a good place, a safe place, and a loving place to call home. Many children have never had a home that is a refuge in a life that most of us grew up with a home that is a fortress against life’s storms. Some are battered by neglect, abuse, and fear, and are wearied in a fight never meant to be their own. Here at The Children’s Village, we strive to provide that warm and loving place where they can know without a doubt that they are accepted and loved deeply.
Some children come to us having bounced around in an institutional world never knowing what it means to have someone sincerely care for them, pray for them, and invest time and energy and tenderness into their lives.
